Our mission statement is a simple one, and yet encompasses all of life. "Love God. Love People. Love Yourself." It is the mission given to us directly by Jesus Christ Himself in the Gospels. As members of the community of Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, we make a sincere, deliberate, and conscious decision to put this into practice each and every day of our lives, that we may preach the Good News of the Gospel by our actions.
Though we have no better example than the life and teaching of Jesus, our spirituality of love and service is also influenced by the lives, works, and writings of Saint Benedict, Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Dorothy Day, and Thomas Merton. Like Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we seek out the marginalized of our society, for we are all children of God. With the Corporal Works of Mercy as our guide, we feed the hungry, visit the sick, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless. We counsel and support those in active addiction and in recovery from addiction. We advocate for peace and social justice. We honor and respect the Earth and all Creation. In all aspects of our lives, we strive to bring the love of God to all we meet through our humility, love, compassion, and good works. We invite you to join us.
"The fruit of faith is love... the fruit of love is service."
(Saint Teresa of Calcutta)
